TecLogTalks: 5 Questions to Peter Werthner, Project Management Team Leader

Hello Peter Werthner, what does your daily work with us look like?

As the Project Management Team Leader, my core responsibilities cover many aspects. These range from planning and organizing, including resource management, to strategic tasks such as process optimization and customer management. My role also involves regular meetings with the team and other departments, and sometimes conflict management is part of my daily routine. Project oversight includes tasks like progress monitoring, risk management, and quality assurance. This makes my workday very diverse.

Those are just a few of the tasks. Which challenges keep you engaged beyond a normal working day?

Since my workday is often dynamic and requires flexibility, strong communication skills and excellent organizational talent are essential. Additionally, being able to react quickly to unforeseen challenges and work effectively under pressure are key aspects of my role.

How do you recharge your own batteries to overcome all these challenges? How do you start the day?

I have found a job that brings me joy, and for me, that is the key to success. I enjoy taking on high-risk projects and take great satisfaction in completing them successfully, with happy clients. These successes are what fuel my energy. My mornings always start the same way: first, of course, with a coffee! Then I do a quick review of my emails—anything that can be answered quickly, I handle right away. After that, I update and organize my to-do list, which I write before the end of the day. This allows me to seamlessly pick up where I left off the previous day. The day then continues with our daily Jour-Fixe at 9:00 a.m.

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome? What strategies did you use to get there?

Yes, I took the leap—from a secure, industrial job at a large corporation with limited prospects to a young, dynamic company as a project manager. I knew it was a risk, but I made the right choice! My family provided me with the strength and support I needed, even though the initial onboarding was quite challenging.

Finally, do you have a personal tip for us to stay motivated?

I am pleased to share a quote from Muhammad Ali that continually inspires me:

„He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.“
